38 aspiring models vie at 1st Global Asian Model Search



Global Asian Model Philippines Ella Lubag and Vince Lennard Marcelo are vying with 36 other aspiring models from 20 countries around the world at the inaugural Global Asian Model World finals set on Thursday, November 21 at The Cove Okada Manila.

Lubag is a Chemical Engineering graduate from the University of the Philippines and Marcelo is a 19-year-old, native of Bocaue, Bulacan and student of De La Salle University.

The first Global Asian Model Search conducted it weeklong activities including photoshoot, fashion film shoot, trainings, workshops and fittings, among others.

The first ever Global Asian Model Search, which looks for the next Supermodel with an Asian look, is the brainchild of Empire.ph and Mercator Modeling Management head Jonas Antonio Gaffud. The winning pair, who will receive a cash prize of US $10,000 and US $10,000 modeling contract, will have their Headquarters in Manila, will work around Asia and will have the chance to become world renowned personalities in the prestigious modeling capitals in the world like Paris, London, Milan, New York and L.A.

“It’s time for us Asians to believe in our ancestry and heritage as we are now the biggest market in the world,” said the international queen maker Gaffud who produced the likes of Miss World 2013 Megan Young, Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa and Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.

The Global Asian Model World Finals will be followed closely by the Global Asian Model Philippines Search in December the winners of which will compete in the second edition of Global Asian Model International 2020; Miss Charm International in Vietnam in January 2020; 20th Manhunt International in Manila in February 2020; Supermodel International World Final in Thailand in February 2020; and Mister Global International 2020 in Thailand. (Report by Eton Concepcion)
