Philippines ready to capture Miss Universe, Supranational and Intercontinental 2017

All eyes are in Filipino-British Rachel Peters this month as she starts to showcase on the Miss Universe stage her confidently beautiful charm. She is expected to continue the winning streak of her predecessors since Venus Raj in 2010 at the world’s most anticipated beauty pageant.

Peters, who just turned 26 on October 20, hails from Camarines Sur and has a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Tourism and Events at La Trobe University in Australia and completed her International Baccalaureate at the British School in Phuket, Thailand.  The 5-foot-8 model was at the center of the triple send-off party with fellow Bb. Pilipinas queens Chanel Olive Thomas and Katarina Rodriguez tendered by the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI), led by BPCI chairman Stella Marquez-Araneta, at the Monet Ballroom of Novotel Manila-Araneta Center on November 6.

While the 66th Miss Universe will be held in Las Vegas on November 26, the Miss Supranational where Thomas will compete is in Poland on December 1 and Rodriguez at the Miss Intercontinental in Sri Lanka on December 21. Bb. Pilipinas-International Mariel de Leon is presently in Japan aiming to retain the Miss International crown, currently held by Kylie Versoza, during the finals set on November 14.

The four Philippine representatives are buoyed up with the recent strong finishes of Elizabeth Clenci and Nelda Ibe, 2nd runner-up at the Miss Grand International 2017 held in Vietnam and 1st runner-up in Miss Globe 2017 in Albania, respectively.

Chanel, a 26-year-old Filipino-Australian model, grew up in Cairns, Australia and traces her roots in San Antonio, Nueva Ecija, her mother’s home province. With a Certificate III in Business Administration and Certificate III and IV in Fitness, the motivational speaker could become the country’s second Miss Supranational winner after Mutya Datul in 2013.

The 24-year-old, 5-foot-6, Rodriguez, from Antipolo, Rizal, is a graduate of Business Management and Philosophy from De La Salle University.
