Bicolano-mestizo and Ilokano Hunk model lead favorites in Misters of Filipinas 2017

Misters of Filipinas 2017, the country’s leading male pageant, kicked off with the press presentation of its twenty four official candidates held last Sunday at the Matrix Creation Events Venue in Diliman, Quezon City. The dashing hunks coming from all over the country and Filipino overseas communities paraded in swimwear and summer wear to start preliminary judging of who will carry the titles as models of “Masculinity with Responsibility,” the campaign slogan of Misters of Filipinas pageant.

Carlo Pasion of Laoag City, a 21-year-old, 5-foot-11, computer programming graduate and presently working as fitness instructor, was named Media’s Choice of the night, leading the list of hot favorites for the six titles at stake that include Mister International Philippines, Misters of Filipinas Man of the World, Misters of Filipinas Manhunt International, Misters of Filipinas Supranational, Misters of Filipinas Man of the Year and Mister Asian Philippines 2016.

Naga City-born model Clint Karklins Peralta, a 26-year-old, 6-foot-1, born in Naga City and a graduate of Universidad de Santa Isabel in Naga, Camarines Sur and presently a registered nurse is another stand out among this year’s batch for his mix Filipino and Latvian meztiso looks.

Among the early favorites are Yves Campos, a 24-year-old, 5-foot-9, Nursing graduate of Velez College in Cebu and now works in Hawaii, USA; Ion Perez of Capaz Tarlac, a 26-year-old, 5-10, print ad model; Raven Renz Lansagan of Mabalacat, Pampanga, a 5-foot-11, student in Business Administration at Holy Angel University and hip hop dancer; and Ryan Hernandez of Concepcion, Tarlac, a 22-year-old, 5-11, graduate of Science in Maritime Transportation at Philippine Merchant Marine School.

Others in the possible winners include Renz Cutanda of Occidental Mindoro, a 26-year-old, 5-9, basketball player and fitness enthusiast; Rosky Perez of Tondo, Manila, a 28-year-old, 6-foot, model and businessman; Rubi Kust, a 21-year-old, 6-1, Filipino-German graduate of Mechanical Engineering and raised in Spain; Chris Capistrano of Obando, Bulacan, a 25-year-old, 5-10, professional cook and fitness enthusiast; Jonathan Maniquis of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, a 22-year-old, 5-10, graduate of Education at the Our Lady of Fatima University and a finalist in 2016 Misters of Filipinas; John Marben Segui of Taytay, Rizal, a 19-year-old, 5-11, Hotel And Restaurant graduate and works as a property consultant; and Amir Don Abbo of Barcelona, Sorsogon, a 26-year-old, 5-10, graduate of Arts in Peace Studies at Bicol University and presently works as a security guard.

The rest of the candidates are Vann Ramos of Cebu City, Bap Petel of Davao City, John Joseph Hipolito of the Filipino Community of Italy, Jeffrey Camus of Laguna, Joe-Mharr Mangi of Oriental Mindoro, Julio Evina of Palawan, Neil Erwin Regis of Pangasinan, Andrei Acorda of Tarlac, Mark John Mencenido of Teresa, Rizal, Aki Montibon of Butuan City and Kit Gonzales of San Mateo, Rizal.

“It was a very long search for the official candidates and I am confident that we would have good results from this year’s strong batch of contestants,” Carlo Morris Galang, president of Prime Event Productions Philippines Foundation, Inc. (PEPPS), organizer of Misters of Filipinas pageant, said during the event.  “We are looking for men who will become the best versions of themselves as title holders, to develop a sense of community to become role models in their communities, so they can contribute to the society,” Morris added.
