If there is one big wish her fans
could have made for Superstar Nora Aunor on her recent 64th birthday, was to
see their idol able to use again her singing voice. It’s welcome news that the
internationally acclaimed veteran actress is now seriously pursuing treatment
to cure her throat problem.
Aunor, who held her birthday party at Century
Hall, Quezon City Circle, is doing a series of treatments and therapy sessions
under Kitchie Molina after undergoing throat check-ups both here and abroad.
Doctors told her that her vocal cords were undamaged from the bungled cosmetic
surgery she went through in Japan in 2010.
Aunor is thankful to veteran broadcast journalist “Kuya” Daniel Razon
and televangelist “Brother Eli” Soriano of “Ang Dating Daan” for helping her in
her check-ups.
Aunor was named Best Film Actress of
the Year at the 8th CINEMALENTE Media and Film Festival of ICCT Colleges, a
tertiary education provider with campuses located in Rizal province, with Paulo
Ballesteros as Best Film Actor of the Year. She was invited to grace the 2017 ASEAN
International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA) in Kuching, Sarawak,
Malaysia to present the AIFFA Lifetime Achievement award to Malaysian pioneer
filmmaker Tan Sri Lakshmanan Krishnan. Aunor was the recipient of the same
honor in 2015.
Aunor’s two indie films, Arturo San
Agustin’s “Kabisera” and Roderick Cabrido’s “Tuos” made the list of 12 Best
Films of 2016 from the Pasado (Pampelikulang Samahan ng mga Dalubguro). A film about mother’s love is in the planning
stage entitled “Immaculada,” to be directed by Arlyn dela Cruz of the
controversial film “Bubog.”
Actor Baron Geisler’s “pissing in the
face” scene in “Bubog,” caused the Professional Artist Managers, Inc. (Pami) to
impose sanctions on Dela Cruz, inhibiting all artists from accepting projects
involving her. Dela Cruz, a non-member of Pami, was accused of failing to
exercise control on the set that could have prevented the incident. Aunor, who
has Adolf Alix Jr.’s “Laro” in the can, got indirectly involved in the
controversy that resulted from the “dog-killing” scene in Alvin Yapan’s MMFF
2016 entry “Oro” a film Aunor was supposed to star in. By Eton B. Concepcion/Photos by Erickson Dela Cruz III
