Four Filipinas to continue Mutya ng Pilipinas’ winning tradition

This year’s batch of Mutya ng Pilipinas title-holders begin their quest for glory in international pageants led by Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia-Pacific International 2016 Ganiel Akrisha Arun Krishnan who will compete at the Miss Asia Pacific International revived by the Mutya ng Pilipinas, Inc. after 11 years in hiatus in a launching ceremony held recently at Crowne Plaza Manila.
Krishnan, a 21-year-old, half-Indian beauty and Mass Communication student at Far Eastern University, presently works as side court commentator of ABS-CBN sports team at UAAP basketball games TV coverage. She will be joining the delegates from around the world for the finals of Miss Asia Pacific International to be held in Sheridan Beach Resort Palawan on November 23.
          The Miss Asia Pacific International originally started in 1968 as Miss Asia Quest, considered as Asia’s oldest pageant, expanded to Miss Asia Pacific in 1984 and eventually Miss Asia Pacific International in 2004. Miss Costa Rica Leonora Jimenez-Monge was the first winner in 2005 but was stripped of her title and first runner up Yevgeniya Lapova of Russia took over. 
Janela Joy Cuaton, who won Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism International 2015, will be flying to Cambodia for the Miss Tourism Metropolitan International 2016 to be held on November 18.  Cuaton, 19 years old, formerly worked as a model in Doha, Qatar, where her mother works as a nurse. She is a student in Business Administration at the Far Eastern University and wants to travel to New York and Europe to become an international model.
Ashley Nicole Singh, who was 2nd runner up in Mutya ng Pilipinas 2016, took over the place of Eva Psychee Patalinjug to compete in Shanghai, China for the Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International 2016 as First runner-up Lynette Bradford and Mutya-Overseas Communities 2016 Michelle Thorlund have gone back to Australia and USA respectively, and would not have enough time before the finals in Shanghai on December 18.  Singh, graduate ofBachelor of Arts Communication and Media Studies at Holy Angel University, presently works at the Angeles City Information Office.
Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism International 2016 Justine Mae San Jose will be the country’s bet at Miss Tourism International 2016 which will crown its winner on New Year’s Eve in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The 19-year-old, Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro-born but studied elementary and high school in Doha, Qatar, won Binibining Laguna in 2015. 
San Jose, who started to model at age 14 in Doha is presently a student at Colegio de San Juan de Letran taking up AB Communication. She will be aiming for a back to back victory following fellow Mutya Leren Mae Bautista who is the reigning Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International.
