pageant kicked off activities with the Pre-pageant Night and Talent Competition
with 19 candidates vying for the title, held at the Bulwagang Bonifacio of the New
Caloocan City Hall recently.
The Miss Caloocan 2020, on
its 6th year, is presented jointly by the City Government of Caloocan, headed
by Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan, and the Caloocan Cultural and Tourism
Foundation, Inc. (CCTFI), led by its chairwoman Kathleen Mendoza.
The 19 candidates coming
from the different barangays paraded in swimsuit and cocktail dresses designed
by Bea Bianca. Nineteen-year-old, Jane Nicole MiƱano of Brgy. 132 was voted
Darling of the Media at the conclusion of the event.
“We want to take the beauty
pageant to a new level wherein the winners will not only serve as tourism
ambassadors, but will also be the voices in women empowerment advocacies,” said
CCTFI chair Mendoza. A number of the
candidates have similar advocacy for mental-health awareness.
