The 6th Miss Global 2018 international
pageant kicked off with the press presentation of its 47 official candidates
held at Ayala Malls Seda Vertis North in Quezon City on Monday Afternoon. Philippine representative Eileen Gonzales
bagged the Darling of the Press award with Miss USA Pamela Lee and Miss
Uzbekistan Tamila Khodjaeva, placing 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
Gonzales, a 22-year-old, single mother
from Cavite, was as former Star Magic talent who gave birth to Pinoy Big
Brother (2009) 4th placer Johan Santos’ son in 2017. The 2018 Miss Global pageant, which is being
hosted for the third time by the Miss Global Philippines, headed by MGP CEO
Pauline Sofia Lapin, is open to single women mothers to compete, just as
transsexual can compete in Miss Universe pageant.
With a short duration of 2 weeks, the
candidates will have an island tour of Boracay before returning for the finale
coronation night where Barbara Vitorelli of Brazil will relinquish her title, set
at the Newport Performing Arts Theater Resorts World Manila on February 11,
2019, with delayed telecast over GMA 7.
Based on their performance during the
press presentation, the following are strong contenders for the crown: Miss USA,
Miss Brazil, Miss Czech Republic, Miss Morocco, Miss Ecuador, Miss Haiti, Miss
India, Miss Indonesia, Miss Malaysia, Miss Aborigine Australia, Miss Australia,
