Miss Intercontinental 2018 Candidates as presented to press at Sofitel Manila.

Philippine bet Karen Gallman took home the Media Favorite and Standout Beauty special awards highlighting the press presentation of candidates to the 47th Miss Intercontinental pageant held at the Mindanao Ballroom of Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila on Thursday afternoon. The 26-year-old, Ubay, Bohol native and a Management graduate of Queensland University, paraded with the 64 of 87 candidates from around the world. A dead ringer for model Kendal Jenner and Fil-Am actress Vanessa Hudgens, Gallman, Miss Photogenic in Bb. Pilipinas 2012, is aiming to capture the only international beauty title yet to be won by the Philippines.

“It’s really a huge challenge to win the only international title not won by a Filipina. I’m going this competition very well prepared. In a way that it’s also an advantage that it’s being held in Manila,” Gallman said.

Miss Slovak Republic Laura Longanerova, who has some resemblance with Catriona Gray, Miss Colombia Hillary Hollman and Miss Poland Angelika “Angel” Duszczyk emerged as early favorites who could give Gallman a run for her money.

Other strong contenders include Miss Hungary Greta Muszka, Miss Costa Rica Adriana Moya, Miss Georgia Yuliia Rybchuk, Miss USA Marianny Egurrola, Miss Thailand Iugchanok Prasart, Miss Paraguay Gabriela Sawkiw, Miss Dominican Republic Wilma Antoniazzi, Miss Brazil Flavia Polido, Miss Ethiopia Bella Lire Lapso, Miss Mexico Ivanna Lobato, Miss Myanmar Nang Mway Loong, Miss Czech Republic Veronika Volkeova and Miss Ukraine Senya Lamber.

Miss Intercontinental Japan CEO Joanna Leonisa Miyamae and CEO Detlef Tursies attended the press presentation. Coming pre-pageant activities before the Coronation Night on January 26 at the Mall of Asia are the Swimsuit and Philippine Designers’ Evening Gown Fashion Show (Grand Ballroom Okada Manila, January 16), Evening Gown Competition and Philippine Designers’ Filipiniana Fashion Show (Grand Ballroom Okada Manila, January 17) and National Costume Competition (The Garden Okada Manila, January 19).
