attended to one of their commitments paying a visit to the cancer-stricken
children at the Philippine Children’s Medical Center, in Quezon City on
Thursday afternoon.
Led by Miss Universe Philippines 2018
Catriona Gray, Binibining Pilipinas International Ma. Ahtisa Manalo, Binibining
Pilipinas Supranational Jehza Huelar, Binibining Pilipinas Grand International
Eva Patalinjug, Binibining Pilipinas Globe Michele Gumabao along with 1st Runner-up
Vickie Rushton and 2nd Runner-up Samantha Bernardo cheered up some 40 young
cancer and hematology patients, handing out toys, reading stories and playing
with them as they watched a special balloon show presentation.
Gray and the rest tried their best to
be a source of inspiration and hope to the kids whom they also treated to
servings of favorite ice cream products from Dairy Queen (DQ) and meals from
Taco Bell.
“I can’t help but get a little
emotional, knowing the pain that these little kids experience. I share their
pain as I have experienced losing both my parents to cancer,” Huelar said.
“I am grateful to Binibining Pilipinas
Charities Inc. (BPCI) for giving us the opportunity to take a break from our
schedules to be able to share our blessings, fulfill charitable works, most especially,
to the sick and less fortunate,” said Gray who also expressed excitement on the
news that she will be competing in Thailand, a country so close to her heart,
recently confirmed as the host for this year’s Miss Universe pageant to be held
on December 17 at the Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi.
“I’m happy it’s going to be held in
Asia because I think we make a celebration of pageants like no other. I really
hope all my friends and supporters could come and watch,” said the 24-year old,
Fil-Australian Gray who is a part of Young Focus, an organization that finances
educational programs. (Words
