Philippines wins the inaugural Miss Multinational with Germany as First Runner-up and host country India as 2nd Runner-up. |
As predicted
before she flew to India, Sophia Senoron captured the first-ever Miss
Multinational title besting some fifty delegates from all over the world, during
coronation finals held Monday night at the historic Kingdom of Dreams in
Gurugram, India.
The
18-year-old, 5-foot-4, varsity champion debater of San Beda University where
she is currently a student in Financial Management, beat Miss Germany Saskia
Kuban and host country bet Miss India Shefali Sharma, who finished as 1st and 2nd
runners up, respectively. Miss Thailand and Miss Japan comprised the other Top
5 finalists.
Senoron’s
college dabating prowess worked to her favor as she was adjudged best in personal
interview, best speech and topping the Miss Environment special title, decided
thru the most number of ratings garnered from the candidate’s country of origin
using a free Smart phone solution “Envirate” rating the surroundings based on
the three main senses, look, hear and breathe.
Senoron, who
hails from Pandi, Bulacan, is a dog lover, likes burgers and shooting arrows.
She dreamed of becoming a beauty queen and won Miss San Beda College in 2016.
Senoron trained the watchful eyes of the Kagandahang Flores beauty camp and was
supported by designer Jontie Flores who created her Filipiniana national
costume and signature San Beda-red evening gown she wore in the competition.
A great
coincidence that Senoron and her idol-inspiration, Sushmita Sen, has the same
initials as her. Sen made history by becoming the first Indian to win Miss
Universe in 1994 in Manila, while Senoron was crowned the first Filipina and
Miss Multinational title-holder in New Delhi, hometown of Sen.
Miss
Philippines World and Multinational national director Arnorld Vegafria was
requested by pageant organizers to go up the stage and take the honor of
crowning the first ever Multinational winner. Senoron followed on her Miss
Philippines World batchmate Winwyn Marquez, the first Filipina and Asian to win
the Reina Hispanoamericana title in Bolivia. Senoron gave her country the first
international beauty title this year. Report
