Comic Con Asia, where the best of
comics, movies, series, manga, anime, toys, gaming and cosplay all come
together, coming to Manila in March 2018.
What makes Comic Con Asia different is the great balance between
international and regional Asian content. And because the Filipino audience is up-to-the-minute,
in touch with the latest in both American box office hits and Japanese anime,
there is no better place than the Philippines to have a comic con that is
uniquely Asian.
Leading the Comic Con Asia in Manila
recent launching was Filipino boxing legend, Senator Manny ‘Pac Man’ Pacquiao who
was chosen as Comic Con Asia 2018 Ambassador. Pacquiao is himself an avid fan
of comic conventions and comic-related art form. “I am very much proud and
honored to be chosen as Ambassador of Comic Con Asia and I hope that I could be
of help to our local talents and to bring the Philippines at the forefront of
regional convention venues and as a top tourism destination,” said the only
8-division boxing champion in the world.
Pacquiao was joined by Cosplayers Gerard as Superman and Diana Meneses
as Wonder Woman and RegineTolentino who gave a brief talk on Pinoy cosplay
culture.
Produced by PSL Entertainment, headed
by Pauline Laping, which is committed to developing homegrown content and
talents and delivering premier entertainment experience to a global audience,
and Nam Entertainment Group, a full media company based in Vietnam and
currently developing the TV series “The Bachelor” for Asian market, the Comic
Con Asia event will be held on March 24 and 25, 2018 at the SMX SM Mall of Asia
in Pasay City. Part of the proceeds from the Comic Con Asia 2018 event will go
to the Filipino men and women in uniform.
The two-day, Comic Con Asia 2018 is
guaranteed to be a showcase of Filipino and Asian talent and will gather
international and regional celebrities in a proper industry con where one can
learn from the people behind the scenes – the artists, creators and producers –
during industry talks, panel discussions and workshops with experts. Special events will include “One-Shot” where
to present ideas to some of the biggest names in the industry to get a project
produced or a job offer; “Auction Hero” where collectors can bid on some of the
more serious collectibles available (limited editions, rare finds, exclusive
signed merchandise); “The Great Filipino Graphic Novel” a contest where veteran
comic artists can review an original work against the best of the best to
produce a truly Filipino work of comic art; “The Trading Guild” a swap event
where one collector’s junk becomes another collector’s treasure; and “Cosplay
Match-Up” an exciting cosplay competition that evens the playing field for
international, Filipino, gaming, and anime cosplayers. All these and so much
more will be coming your way in March next year at Comic Con Asia 2018. Words
