Erica Mae Nate, a 10-year-old, Grade 4
of Kabayanan Elementary School, bested more than 15 kids-representatives from
the different provinces and topped the Miss Philippines Earth 2017 – Little
Earth Angels finals held recently at Eurotel Vivaldi in Cubao, Quezon City.
The San Juan City girl, youngest among
three siblings who dreams to become a beauty queen, won the judges’ nod when
she answered that she would plant trees which absorb carbon dioxide to help
curve smoke belching cars during the question-and-answer round of the
pageant. “This is the first pageant that
I joined and we prepared a lot for the Q&A since it is an important part of
the judging,” said the ever-smiling and lady-like young beauty.
The judges included Miss Philippines
Earth 2016 Loren Mar Artajos, with her court, Miss Fire Shannon Bridgman, Miss
Eco-Tourism Melanie Mader and Miss Air Kiara Giel Gregorio and Manila Standard
beauty expert Eton Concepcion.
The candidates were introduced on
stage accompanied by the candidates of Miss Philippines Earth 2017 representing
their respective provinces. The Little Earth Angels, presented by Carousel
Productions, Inc., has been held since 2007 concurrently with the Miss
Philippines Earth pageant, with the goal to inspire and get involved young
children in environmental awareness, an advocacy of the annual Miss Philippines
Earth pageant. The Little Earth Angels winners serve as Little Earth
Ambassadors year-round activities for the protection and preservation of the
environment around the country. Words
