While the country has turned down the
hosting of the Miss Universe 2017, Manila is set to host the Mister Tourism
Universe 2017 in October 2017. The maiden
Mister Universe Tourism pageant will gather exceptional representatives from
all over the world, between the ages 18 to 28, and compete during the grand
Coronation Night with the corresponding title as “Mister Universe Tourism.”
The Mister Universe Tourism pageant is
an initiative of “Kabataang Sama-samang Maglilingkod (KASAMA), Inc. which is
also the organizer of the annual Mr. and Miss Philippine Youth (now on its 17th
year) which discovered celebrities Onemig Bondoc, Rico Yan and Dindong Dantes,
among others.
“What makes the new Mister Universe
Tourism distinct from all other male pageants is that this pageant is envisaged
to be an excellent foundation for handsome and bright man, who has the passion
and commitment to show the beauty of world culture, heritage and values, while
promoting their individual advocacies. We
aim to promote the spirit of achieving best practice standards in the pageant
industry; committed to create the best possible image for the individual on the
global scale, and we recognize the value of partnerships in creating successful
results for the pageant and achieving our vision of goodwill and unity in the
global arena,” said Gerald D. Ortiz, Quezon Province 4th District Board Member
who is the founder and Chairman of Mister Universe Tourism pageant.
Mister Universe Tourism 2017 will have
delegates from various cities in North and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa,
Australia and Antartica. The grand winner will be awarded ambassador role and
will travel extensively, promoting his particular platform of interest, and to
take an active part to help advance Tourism, which is the main objective of the
pageant.”
One grand winner and two runners-up
will be selected. The titleholder will receive a 3-day Holiday Vacation in
Boracay, 1,000 US dollar cash and 2,000 US dollar worth of wardrobe and fashion
jewelry.
Mister Universe Tourism 2017 will be
held starting on October 5 with the delegates expected to visit some of the
country’s top tourist destinations during their 10-day stay in the Philippines,
culminating in the finals set for October 15 at the GSIS Theater in Pasay City.
