40 environmental beauties vie at Miss Philippines Earth 2017

The 40 delegates of Miss Philippines Earth 2017 during the welcome dinner at the Carousel Mansion Gardens in Ideal, Mandaluyong City.

Samantha Viktoria Acosta (Pulilan, Bulacan); Vanessa Mae Castillo (Lobo, Batangas); and Jessica Rose McEwen (Fil-Community of New Zealand).

The 2017 Miss Philippines Earth pageant kicked off its search with a welcome dinner for the forty official candidates held Wednesday night at the Carousel Mansion Gardens in Ideal, Mandaluyong City.

Earlier, Carousel Productions announced that a predjuging shall be held on three separate occasions; figure & form, beauty of face & poise; and intelligence category, from which the Top 12 finalists will be chosen, to be revealed during the coronation finals set on July 15, 2017 at the Mall of Asia Arena, to be telecast on ABS-CBN on July 16 at 10 AM. Judges of each category shall be personalities from related fields of expertise.

Early favorites for the title include Samantha Viktoria Acosta, a 19-year-old, Entrepreneurship student at the University of Asia and the Pacific (Pulilan, Bulacan); Anne Krishia Antonio, a 22-year-old, executive research assistant (Porac, Pampanga); Karen Ibasco, a 26-year-old, medical physicist and former UST math/ physics teacher and Bb. Pilipinas 2016 candidate (City of Manila); Jessica Rose McEwen, a 20-year-old, Mass Communication graduate and Top 13 semi-finalist at Miss World Philippines 2015 (Fil-Community of New Zealand); and Vanessa Mae Castillo, Lobo, Batangas, a 21-year-old, Psychology Graduate and aspires to be a flight stewardess.

The rest of the 40 contending Earth beauties are Korin Frances Dizon, Agnes Mygelle Tolentino, Kim de Guzman, Allana Coronel, Abigail Libre, Nikkie Maria Elizalde, Mary Cheene Pastoral, Rianne Charlotte Kalaw, Shaina Louise Kim, Princess Pusing, Sadrine Stoelzaed, Lea Audrey Laano, Jessica Marasigan, Rheena Rae Ferrer, Marie Sherry Ann Tormes, Klaidel Hope Concepcion, Sofia Jane Panapanaan, Tammy De Roca, Daniella Anthea Mayo, Adalynn Dumlao,  Cheysen Capuno, May Adel Ahmed Salman, Madelle Estaya, Catherine Tabaniag, Vivian Wladkowski, Sherlyn  Doloriel, Elizabeth Amahan, Danna Rose Sacaoco, Carmella Quirog, Pamela Grace Janson, Celine Mae Pangan, Nellza Bautista, Kristal May Rubiano (Canada) and Alexis Amor Nevalga (Florida, USA).

The Miss Philippines Earth pageant, produced by Carousels Productions, headed by its president Ramon Monzon, Lorraine Schuck, Executive Vice President and Peachy Veneracion, VP for External Affairs, is now on its 17th year search whose raison d’etre was to have its candidates and winners actively promote and get involved in the preservation of the environment and the protection of Mother Earth. The Miss Philippines Earth winner will serve as Ambassador to environmental protection campaigns in the country and will be the Philippines’ representative in the annual Manila-based Miss Earth pageant.

The current Miss Philippines Earth title-holder is Kiara Giel Gregorio who was named Miss Earth Philippines-Air in last year’s pageant but inherited the crown from the outspoken Imelda Schweighart after she resigned as Miss Philippines Earth 2016 following controversies caused by her comments of Miss Earth 2016 Katherin Espin of Ecuador having undergone major plastic surgery.
