Basketball
fans around the country have the chance to get their own jerseys that define
their favorite Ginebra ‘never say die’ spirit in the past three decades with
the launching of the Ginebra San Miguel Ganado Classics Jersey Collection promo
in celebration of Ginebra San Miguel’s 30th year of “Never Say Die” spirit.
Representing
the famous players from the crowd-favorite Ginebra team from three different
eras of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), the five (5) jerseys
relive the historic and unforgettable moments that have made the fans part of
the never-say-die Ginebra legacy in the past 30 years.
The
collectible jerseys include Jaworski 7 First Edition (1985), NSD Spirit (1991),
David 1 for Ginebra Na! (1996), Caguioa 47 for Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings
(1999) and Thompson 6 for Barangay Ginebra San Miguel (2012-to present).
Dubbed the
“Living Legend of PBA,” Robert “Sonny” Jaworski, who played his last PBA game
in 1997 at the age of 50, congratulated
the Ginebra officials and basketball fans in a video message from California,
USA which was played during the launching.
“It’s really
an honor to have my jersey Number 1 chosen among the collection because there
are so many Ginebra players more deserving than myself,” said Bal David, who’s
heroics put the Gin Kings in the league history book as the first 8th seed team
to win over top seed, dubbed as ‘David vs Goliath’ upset in the 1999 PBA
All-Filipino Cup finals.
“It definitely
brings back a lot of memories seeing my jersey here (in the collection),” said
Mark “The Spark” Caguioa, the other half of the “Bandana Boys” with the equally
popular Jayjay Helterbrand.
I was really
surprised, I’m just a newcomer in the league. I am thankful to God and of
course, to the Ginebra management for this distinct honor they gave me,” said
the sophomore Ginebra guard Scottie Thompson who was drafted in 2015.
Collecting the
five Ganado jerseys is very easy! Just buy any GSMI product. For every five
