Women’s Journal, the oldest and
longest-running lifestyle women’s magazine in the country, in celebration of
its 45th anniversary presented recently its Outstanding Women of the Year 2017
awards held at Teatrino in Greenhills, San Juan.
The Women’s Journal Outstanding Women
of the Year 2017 awardees was led by Star for all Seasons multi-award actress
Vilma Santos-Recto, now Representative of Batangas, 6th District, House of
Representatives.
Famas awardee Ara Mina, Urian-awardee
Gladys Reyes, Ynez Veneracion, Patricia Javier and Ina Alegre, Jennifer Cruz in
real life, the wife of PCSupt Gilbert Cruz and now Vice-Mayor of Pola,
Oriental Mindoro, are the other actresses honored.
Other awardees are government and
local officials which include MTRCB chairperson Rachel Arenas, Ozamiz City
Vice-Mayor Nova Princess E. Parojinog, San Jose del Monte Rep. Florida P. Robes
and Clarin, Misamis Occidental Mayor Elsa Navarro.
Beauty queens in the list include Miss
World 2013 Megan Young, Miss World Philippines 2007 Maggie Wilson-Consunji, Mutya
ng Pilipinas Asia Pacific 2000 Josephine Canonizado and Mutya ng Pilipinas
Asia-Pacific International 2014 Eva Patalinjug.
Dermatologist Dr. Risa Caldoza-de
Leon, dermatologist Helen Mano, who represented the Philippines in Mrs.
International World 2017 and Mrs. Asia International 2016, respectively, and Classic
Mrs. Asia International 2016 Cosmopolitan Vivian Yano were also honored. Other
doctors honored are Model Mom Philippines Dra. Rhea Candie Santos, Dra. Melanie
Chua and Dra. Joyce Pilarsky, Los Angeles Fashion Week Design Competition 2015
grand champion and third-place winner in the Accessory Competition of the
prestigious International Design Awards.
The rest of the awardees are Swan
Dance International Trading founder Dursula Ito, ABS-CBN broadcast Journalist
Bernadette Sembrano-Aguinaldo, Olympian swimmer and TV host Christine Jacob-Sandejas,
beauty queen events host Khristine Caballero-Aplal and Model Mom Philippines
awardees May Ann Legarda, Susie Ong, Leah Leilani Gultiano, Mary Ann Gonzales,
Flor Torres Sabino and Derlyn Maceda. The rest are Bea Oranga, Cherry Burwell,
Mylin Gilbuela, Gloria Cuaresma, Judith Montinola Oki, Rae Atienza, Jikkie
Lee-Ines, Mary Jane Jarencio and Mhel Pechera.
The Women’s Journal Outstanding Women
of the Year 2017 awards night was conceptualized by Mr. Richard Hinola, top
honcho of RDH Entertainment Productions. The anniversary event was co-sponsored
