20 Hot Picks at the 65th Miss U

With the 65th Miss Universe preliminary competitions fast unfolding in Manila and the countryside, comments and reviews of the candidates after the Governor’s Ball, Terno and Swimsuit events have  been appearing almost daily in the media.
As customary in every pageant, we are making a list of a Twenty (20) so-called Hot Picks or favorite/favored delegates that could make the cut during the culminating coronation night of the pageant, namely in alphabetical order:

  1. Miss Argentina Estefania Bernal, a 21-year-old, 5-foot-8 model from Buenos Aires, Media Communication student, who loves to dance and advocates women’s rights
  1. Miss Australia Caris Tiivel, a 23-year-old, 5-foot-10 model from Perth who loves to paint to express herself and works closely with children who are in need through fundraising
  1. Miss Brazil Raissa Santana, a 21-year-old, 5-foot-9, Marketing graduate who loves to play basketball, cooking  is a basketball playing, cooking and volunteers with charities and organizations that focuses on child adoption and the eldery
  1. Miss Colombia, a 23-year-old, 5-foot-10, Industrial Design and Photo Production graduate, who plays volleyball and hopes to put up an innovative foundation that uses raw materials from the Pacific region to transform Colombian products
  1. Miss Curacao, a 2-year-old, 5-foot-11, International Business and Management student who loves to dance and cook and advocates for cancer prevention and research
  1. Miss Dominican Republic, a 24-year-old, 5-foot-11, model who has put up her own modeling agency and volunteers for the charitable organization “Corazones Nobles
  1. Miss France Iris Mittenaere, a 23-year-old, 5-foot-8, Paris-born, Dental Surgery student who loves to travel, cook and extreme sports. She volunteers at Bienvenue-Tongasoa and Les Bonnes Fées and hopes to advocate for dental and oral hygiene.
  1. Miss Indonesia, a 25-year-old, 6-foot, Informatics Engineering graduate and volunteers for Smile Train Indonesia
  1. Miss Japan, a 23-year-old, 5-foot-7, senior dental student with a passion for children and travel and has volunteered at orphanages and children’s hospitals in Vietnam and Cambodia. She plays volleyball, arranges flowers, hosts tea parties and plays the piano
  1. Miss Mexico Kristal Silva, a 24-year-old, 5-foot-10, native of Tamaulipas and former contestant at Miss Earth pageant
  1. Miss Nicaragua Marina Jacoby, a 21-year-old, 5-foot-8, ramp and TV commercial model and leads a campaign against bullying in her country
  2. Miss Nigeria Unoaku Anyadike, a 22-year-old, 6-foot, Psychology graduated with honors in Psychology currently undergoing the National Youth Service corps in Nigeria, a mandatory service to her country. She is an advocate of Endometriosis and is very passionate about children
  1. Miss Panama Keity Drennan, a 26-year-old, 5-foot-9, works as a model of Next Models in Miami and represented Panama in Ford Model’s Supermodel of the World 2008 and Miss International 2011
  1. Miss Philippines Maxine Medina, a 26-year-old, 5-foot-8, print and runway model and works as Interior Designer and volunteered for social works for children with cancer, supports "Operation Smile" and Gawad Kalinga street children and participated in relief operations to typhoon victims in the Philippines.
  1. Miss South Africa Ntandoyenkosi Kunene, a 24-year-old, 5-foot-9, Education graduate and currently ambassador for the Cell C Take a Girl Child to Work Day which gives South African girls first-hand experience in an industry as future career opportunities
  1. Miss Spain Noelia Freire, a 24-year-old, 5-foot-8,  model and hair dresser who loves to play basketball or soccer and in helping those who have alzheimer’s at AFADAL
  1. Miss Thailand Chalita Suansane, a 21-year-old, 5-foot-7,  Microbiology student and volunteers at ‘Baan Home Hug’ orphanage that houses HIV-afflicted children, abused and orphaned children
  1. Miss Turkey Tansu Sila Cakir, a 21-year-old, 5-foot-8, Nutrition, Dietetics and Psychology student who plays sports such as pilates, yoga and kickboxing. She loves to cook and hopes to write a recipe book in the future
  1. Miss USA Deshauna Barber, a 27-year-old, 5-foot-7, active US Army Reserve and holder of Masters of Science in Computer Information Systems. She works as an IT Analyst at the U.S. Department of Commerce and has been spending her year as Miss USA working directly with soldiers suffering from PTSD and focusing on suicide prevention in the Armed Forces
  1. Miss Venezuela Mariam Habach, a 20-year-old, 6-foot, dentistry student who loves to sing and dance, and volunteers to provide children with the care they need for healthy and beautiful smiles in Venezuela
Dark horse is Miss Great Britain a dead ringer for Miss Belgium Universe 1994 Christelle Roelandts who was the most loved and hot favorite of Filipinos during the Miss Universe 1994 in Manila. By Eton B. Concepcion
